For many businesses, the holidays are the most important time of the year. Here are some strategies to help you prepare for the holiday season.

Spruce up your site.

Now is the time to polish up your website, especially if you have an online store. Many businesses see increased traffic flow during the holidays, and if your website makes a great first impression, people will keep coming back. First, make sure your website can handle the traffic flow. Keep your site speedy by making sure you’re caching your site. If you haven’t already, making sure your site is mobile-friendly is also a great idea. Improve your site’s SEO using Google Analytics and Google Webmaster Tools to make sure people can actually find your site. Update any anti-virus software you have, and strengthen your passwords.

Reach out to customers.

Sending a short email blast to customers to wish them a happy holiday season can be a great way to connect with them. Use social media sites like Twitter and Facebook to let customers know about sales or specials, or even to run holiday contests.

Take a look back.

Look at your records for last holiday season. Which products did you sell, and how many of each were sold? These trends will help you plan what to prepare for this year in terms of sales and inventory.
